What a day!

Now...here's a story with an unexpected twist. How many of you have ordered some large item for your home....furniture....a major appliance......and sat around waiting for the delivery? Usually they tell you it will be there during a particular time frame and they always seem to come near the END of that specified time. Well...yesterday we were expecting the delivery of two refrigerators...one for our kitchen and a compact one for our family room. Monday evening we were called and told to expect delivery between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m....that was our delivery "window".

We borrowed an extra couple of coolers and planned to empty the fridge about 10:00...figuring they'd probably not show up until closer to 3. (There was nothing wrong with our other fridge but the design of it wasn't right for us and our lifestyle.) ANYWAY.......much to my total shock, the truck arrived at 9 a.m.....a full TWO hours before the start of our delivery "window". I never had that happen in all my years.....an EARLY delivery of something!!! (Have any of you ever had that happen???) Well.....we scrambled to empty the old fridge while the men unboxed the two new appliances. They discovered they had to remove the handles on the new fridge AND take the storm door off the house to get it inside. I then held my breath that hubby had measured correctly. The fridge just fit.....barely! I love it, though. I finally got the fridge I'd been wanting and this will probably be the last one I buy....so I'm happy I got what I wanted.

The rest of the day was spent setting it up (as well as the compact one in the family room). I had intended to do some sewing while waiting for the delivery, but that never happened. I did do some cutting early in the evening......below are the photos to prove it. The first photo shows the pieces for another block in the Sylvia's Bridal Sampler quilt......and the second one is just half a basket of 1 1/2 inch strips that I'll need for a pineapple quilt a group of us will be making online starting in January. I probably need a full basket of strips, so I better get moving. With the kids/grandkids coming for Thanksgiving, I'm sure there won't be much sewing here for the next few days....but that's okay....we'll have a fun time with them visiting us!

I've never had that happen either! It seems like I'm always the last stop of the day.

Never had an early delivery except for a package by UPS that was a day early. Certainly not an appliance or anything like that.

Where are the pictures of this new Fridge??

I guess an early fridge delivery is better than late when it's only two days to Thanksgiving. ;) Looking forward to your pineapples!

An early delivery? - impossible!! I'm glad they managed to get both applicances into the house and into the spaces for them. It's nice to have what you really want.

We're leading parallel lives!! Just this past Saturday I had appliances delivered (fridge backordered). Anyway, I got the call night before with that two hour window for later in the day. Next morning they called at 7:30am to say they would be a few hours early and would call me before they come. Sure enough...they called and were here two hours earlier! I'm sorta glad the fridge was backordered because I've been second guessing the "gray" sides vs "black" sides. I wanted black but this style was only gray...now that all the other appliances are in...I'm thinking I really want black side. Anyway....I read this and was WOW!! Parallel lives!

Actually this summer when we had guests, the tree trimmers were scheduled to arrive at 9:00 A.M. Well, we were all still in bed at 7:30, when the chain saws were being warmed up and guys next to our bedroom window putting up the ladders! Oops! That would be the only time anyone arrived early.
Lucky you with your dream refrigerator!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Of course it would NEVER happen if youi were ready for it!!!! I need to get a new freezer as mine is 36 years old and has started to "whine" when running. I am trying to empty it before I go and buy a new one to avoid all of that cooler business.

My 1 1/2 inch scraps are groing slowly. I need to get cranking on them in order to be ready for sewing.

Gosh, Pat, deliveries are almost never on time and certainly never early! Glad the new fridge fit through the doorway and that it's just what you wanted. :-)

I know what you mean about just the right refrigerator. I bought mine a few years ago and my DH wanted me to leave it with the house in FL when we moved up here. I said "no way" cuz I had spent too much time shopping for just the right one. And, no, I have never had a delivery come early!
