This first photo shows some completed string blocks made by a blogging friend, Gene Black. Sorry it is a bit blurry, but I tried to enlarge it too much from the original. Click HERE to read his explanation of how to make string blocks if you've not made them before. They are fun and easy. Our quilt guild made charity quilts from these kinds of blocks and I have made them before. I enjoyed it and started to save fabric strips in various lengths and widths. I put them in a lidded basket that sits in my living room. The photo below shows how that basket is now filled beyond capacity. I need to weigh down the lid to keep it closed lately! (Click on that photo to enlarge it and get a better idea of how filled that basket is.) I'm thinking it's time to cut some muslin squares and get moving on these string blocks. My one granddaughter, Emily, who enjoyed sewing with me last summer may like making some of these blocks when she is here for her summer vacation this year, and I believe I have plenty of fabric strips here for both Emily and me to make many blocks from them! Don't you agree? LOL
