It is a head of cabbage that weighed 13 lbs. AND...it only cost $1.50 for the whole head. I made stuffed cabbage (froze some of it) and a huge amount of cole slaw, which we love. They also had huge bunches of broccoli and cauliflower for 99 cents each at the Amish farm markets but we were running out of room in the car. Speaking of room.....I am sure most of you have figured out that the tote bag (which is only about 18 inches high) could not have possibly held all my purchases from the retreat week. I just thought it would be fun to pretend it was a bottomless tote bag! If truth be told, the bag was actually purchased at the last place I shopped...on the way home...and NOTHING was ever carried in the tote bag on the trip. Pretty funny, huh?Depending on when you read this, I will either be nervous about going for a minor surgery today....a good-sized skin cancer lesion on my forehead that must be removed....OR I will be done and, hopefully, home and no longer nervous! My surgery is set for noon...and this is Friday the 13th. For someone who is a nervous Nellie about anything medical, this wasn't such a good date for a procedure, but I'm trying to believe my friend, Linda, who told me not to worry. I've had a previous skin cancer surgery in 2003 that wasn't very pleasant (on my throat), so that has made me more nervous about this one. I'll post tomorrow to let you know how it went and also to show you some other retreat pictures....some of them silly photos!

Everyone I know who had this type surgery on the forehead had no problems. Most come right on back to work.

That cabbage is HUGE! And the price wonderful. They sell it by the pound here and that would have cost plenty.

Anyone who visits Lancaster in the spring knows why the vegetables and fruit grow so well -- there's an aroma that fills the air... Great way to present your finds from the retreat, even if the bag really wasn't involved. Good luck with the surgery -- it's never relaxing no matter what they say. Also, thanks for the comment about the Fort Hood quilt. I am heading south today for my private retreat in Lancaster.. have to find a bottomless Amish bag!
On your next trip to PA, we are all going to put in an order for a "bottomless" tote bag!! LOL But they probably only work in lancaster!!!

Prayers, Pat, for your surgery today. Guess we cannot avoid Friday the 13ths in our lives. I, too, have had several skin cancers removed in the last few years. It is not fun and always worrisome.
