Quick update...hope power stays on
Lost power about 4 a.m. this morning (Saturday)......was back on but ONLY for 10 minutes about 11 a.m. .....and then off again until 10 p.m. Spent the day huddling near the gas fireplace and trying to keep the food from the fridge "safe".....on the screen porch in boxes and coolers (but couldn't stay out there too long or it would freeze)......so out there for a half hour, then back inside for a half hour. Not a fun day, but could have been worse. Developer had guys plow and they dumped a whole BUCKET from a small front-end loader of snow behind hubby's van....a 6-foot tall pile now of rock-hard snow. The SAY they'll send somebody to clear it out...we shall see. Conditions were too horrible for anyone to shovel today....bad winds...white-out conditions...lots of drifting....somewhere between 18 - 24 inches of snow here and going down to about 14 degrees tonight. I worry about some of the elderly in the area who didn't have the comfort of any fireplace to keep them warm. Roads were impassable...and a state of emergency in effect so you were not permitted to drive unless you were an "essential" worker. MANY poles and trees down all over, from what we heard on the scanner that we monitored all day. Will relate more in the morning.....want to send this in case we lose power again, which I hope we don't. Pray for those who may have been unable to keep themselves fed, warm, and healthy around here today.

OH - hope the power stays on - I too worry about the elderly or ill that cannot keep warm - and the children - I hope the storm passes quickly and they get things put to rights soon.
Sounds like your weather is the "pits". It's cold here also and we have some snow coming in. I just try not think about it. LOL
I reread about your weather. It really is a bad mess, and I will pray for those who need help. These storms can really be terrible. Good luck.

How terrible to have to be without power for that long. I hope that things will get better from here on out and not worse. We actually had an elderly man freeze to death here last year. Hope the elderly are well looked after there!

I'm sorry to hear you lost power. That is NOT fun at all. Hope you don't lose it again. We are lucky here and have been nice and warm. We have between 2 and 3 feet of snow, I estimate. Plows have done the road that goes through the development, but our contractor has not come in to do the streets, so we are stuck. I will shovel my car out today, just in case they get us plowed out. Take care and stay warm!
I hope everyone is now safe and warm AND that the power stays on.
I hope they come move the pile from behind hubby's car too. Sheesh! that was just dumb of someone.
Hope everything is back to normal for you today, and that your hard work saved all of the food.

Sounds like you had a rough time of it out there too!!!Makes me wonder how folks did it, years ago - w/o all the modern conveniences. I go nuts w/o power- how sad is that!!! We lost our electricity also - and the generator gave out this morning!!! Thank goodness the power is back on - and hopefully Tuesday's snow is minimal!!
The good news is those trees behind you didn't fall on your house! A friend from church told me his house was crushed when his big pecan tree split and fell on his house. He will have to rebuild.
