Here is one more block from the green no-sew block swap I'm moderating. The fabrics in this one came from Sara (click HERE for her blog). They are very pretty fabrics and I have always liked the Friendship Block, which is the block chosen by Sara for all to make with her fabrics. (Click on the block to see the fabrics better.)
I also am going to show you a few photos of our granddaughter from when we visited her on Valentine's Day. She is a real bundle of energy and finds fun in most every activity. (Wouldn't it be nice if she found fun in quilting one day? LOL)
Anyway...the first photos hows her dribbling a basketball (which she is proud to show me she knows how to do a correct one-handed dribble at the age of 5). Her mom...our daughter...coaches a 5th/6th-grade girls' basketball team and we were able to see one of their games on Sunday, too. Her mom taught her to put one hand behind her back so she won't be tempted to do a two-handed dribble which, if you know basketball, is a big "no-no"! She can do this with either hand and was sure to show us that, too.
Speaking of our daughter, here she is during a timeout talking to the girls on her team. Yes......the coach (our daughter) is SHORT, but she played several years of basketball up into college as a scrappy point guard with lots of hustle and very good technique and now we are proud of how she is cultivating correct technique in the girls on her team. That correct technique can now carry them through many years of basketball, if they wish. 
Okay...back to the little one....here she is showing me two of her action figures (she tells me these are "good guys") She also has bad-guy figures. Her dad was a collector of such things so she has inherited them from him, it seems. She was rather amused that I was not very knowledgeable about these particular characters!
And here she is holding icicles her dad snapped off the house and brought inside to her during our visit.
Oh...that reminds me that I never posted this photo of her (sent to me in an email last week) when she was outside in their driveway and wanted me to see how high the snow was piled up after they shoveled. It was STILL piled that high on Sunday and I doubt it's going away anytime soon!

I can tell you enjoyed spending time with your granddaughter. Have to admit I'm surprised that you haven't started her on quilting already! LOL Never too soon to start. She'd probaly enjoy having a stash of fabrics, even if you had to make the quilts from them. (Kate does this with Alex,her youngest. The girls have both made quilts in recent years.)

As for the figures, I recognize the Hulk but the blue one is not one I know.

I so remember my oldest daughter playing basketball in middle school...it was so much fun to watch the games. middle child was a cheerleader and now one granddaughter is a cheerleader...
She had lots to show you and I do believe she gets prettier each time we see her.

By the way -- when you did that quilt using the nine-patch block that you cut into 4 pieces and then turn. How many different colors/patterns did you use in each one? I hope to make one this summer -- have 4 fabrics and want to know how many more I need.

Yay! You go,Tara! I love that she is coaching the girls basketball team and preparing her own daughter with the correct techniques. I grew up in Iowa where girls basketball was big-time!!! I never played but I was a cheerleader in junior high and high school. Loved the excitement of a good basketball game. Now to those action figures.....I know the green guy is the Hulk as my son liked him, but whose that blue guy? You aren't the only one not too knowledgable about those characters. LOL!
Oh, I like the way my block came out. I really like the lighter fabric...and wanted a nice darker green to bring it out. I guess I did okay.

And, so please to see that your "Tara" is having such fun and being such a wonderful friend and example not only to her daughter but to the girls on her team.

Our nephew coaches 2 BB teams at the school where he works. Our grand niece cheers but does it all year.
They stay hopping for sure over there.

Love the star block, we are making a quilt for the Church we meet at to sew and they have them all around the outside edge. Love that block.
