Recently, when I was making a half-hearted attempt to sort through my drawers of sewing "stuff" (you know how that goes)....I came across 3 packs of Thangles. I had forgotten I had them. They were in 3 different sizes. Last night, I decided to take out the package of 3" (finished size) Thangles and start to make something with them. I cut out strips and made 20 half-square triangles in no time at all using this method. I'm not sure yet what I'm making....but my half-square triangles will be looking really good...that's for sure! (And it's fun to work with these....trickiest thing is peeling the paper off but there is an easy way to do that, too.) Oh...if any of you were still intending to send me emails about my machine woes, I am hoping to get that packet ready to mail on Monday or Tuesday, so I hope you'll be able to get those emails to me before then. Thanks to the 14 of you who have already written to me.

Have you ever "Thangled"???

I have Thangled! I have plenty of them left also. Maybe I will play with those too. Or maybe I will work on something for the bazaar sale and keep them for later.
The fabrics you are using to play with the Thangles is really pretty, they would be pretty in a fall quilt...as a sashing or something like a whole table runner of them :0)

Pat if you do not mind I will mail the letter directly. I think it would be better if the company got inundated with letters individually.
And, of course, you know that my South Seas, just finished, was a Thangles BOM. Very nice squares: very boring BOM. Oh, and I used Thangles for the Autum Swap blocks, too (pack also found in a drawer - LOL).
I have never Thangled. :( I had a friend who let his Thangle Dangle in public once(something about no easy access to a bathroom) and got 36 hrs in the county jail. Or maybe I'm WAY OFF base... Google here I come!

This post pushes a hot button for me, Pat. Yes, I've Thangled and like Gari, it was for a block of the month. I wanted to take part, but I hated using these, so I devised a simple measurement formula that allows me to make the same half-square triangles without Thangles. I typed it up and titled it "How NOT to use Thangles". If anyone is interested, get in touch -- bmooj125@comcast.net

My idea saves money by not buying something that you end up throwing away anyhow (after all the potty-mouthed muttering while pinning and tearing away the paper!).
Everything about Thangles, BOMs that shamelessly make you think you have to spend money on them to take part, and the all-thumbs process of actually using them are my biggest quilt-making pet peeves. They are just not necessary.
I've heard of them, but they never quite peaked my interest.

I have never used Thangles, but I'be heard good things about them. Maybe I should try them.

I have some thangles and I haven't started sewing with them yet.. Although it's looks like the triangles may come out a little straighter.
Anything that would make a triangle easier to sew is worth buying. I've never used them but I watched my friend stitch up a quilt with them and it was gorgeous when the top was finished. Somewhere I have a pack of the things and I should get it out and give it a try.
I have heard of them, but have my own HST method so haven't used them. You will have to tell us how it goes.
I've used them Pat. They are acurate but you do have to do some extra steps. Have fun!
