So...yesterday was Day # 5 of the house repairs. What's that you are saying? You thought there would be NO action on the house repairs on Day #5....you thought it was going to be a day of peace and quiet for us with no workers here? Well....so did we....because it was to rain all day and that would have meant no roof work could be done...no hammering, etc.
Guess what? The rain held off all during working hours...until about 5:00 p.m. and then the skies opened up with a deluge. About 5:30, hubby went into the two rooms that we can't use during the repairs (master bedroom and master bathroom) and found LEAKS....not one...but several...in both rooms. Obviously, the tarping that had been done the day before wasn't adequate. This was a bit upsetting, but...we are dealing with a very good contracting firm that specializes in all kinds of storm-related damage and we knew they'd take care of it, so we called their emergency paging number. The firm's president called back within 5 minutes and he had the head contractor phone us to ask a few specific questions about what was happening. He then dispatched two men to the house. They worked in the dark and rain for a few hours.....put a HUGE new tarp over everything (over the previous tarp that was leaking) and also put two huge fans and a commercial dehumidifier in the two rooms where the leaks were....to keep the air circulating and to get all the moisture out of there. With heavier rains due off and on today, we are hoping this emergency work will keep everything dry now through the weekend......and we hope the weather is good this upcoming week so the whole roof can be finished and we can then be free from any worries about leaks!
Sorry for a post with no pictures.....and no quilting, but.....I wasn't going out in the dark and rain to get pictures of THIS. I love all of you and want to provide interesting posts with photos, but...there is a limit!! LOL

wow, that must of happened right after I dropped you off. It was a torrential rain. good thing Gary went in to check. That company you have are phenominal.
The customer service is really outstanding
We had that happen when we roofed out garage...Bob & I did the work and were surprise by a sudden storm. Thank goodness it was the garage and not the house. We did NOT go back up to fix the tarp LOL.
Crispy
Such a good thing to have caught this right away. Hope your weekend is a good one, and worry free ;-)
It is very noisey getting a new roof, been there done that. I'm so glad you had the emergency number and they came back and got every thing squared away for the rain. Crossing my fingers for good weather next week.
Oh Pat, I just saw the forecast for today for your area and it didn't look good. Good news is that Danny was downgraded.
But the potentials for rain still looked high. You know I thought of you and the roof issue immediately.
And so you know, I for one am GLAD you didn't go out in the weather for a picture!
I hope things are better soon!
You are very lucky in your contractor. Thank goodness they came and fixed the problem right away. Hopefully, the new tarp will hold until next week when the weather improves enough for them to finish the work. I would keep my fingers crossed for you, but it's really hard to type that way!
Sounds like you've got the best of all possible contractors. I'm thinking of you through the rain. Good lucm!
And thru it all, you keep on quilting!!!:>)
We had rain too- it ruined half of our hay bales. From the looks of it, it's gonna rain here today also.........Hope you have better weather!
I'd been wondering how you were getting on with the repairs and all and then realized that storm was on the coast.
It has been a busy week here...I've missed some of your post and now must play catch up!
I'm sure there's a RAINBOW at the end of all this construction. I pray you'll stay dry until they can get it done. What a headache for you. Hang in there!
You are fortunate to have such a responsive contractor. He'll get lots of good advertising from you for being on top of things so quickly. Cool and windy here in MN but no rain. Wise of you not to go out in the rain for a picture!
Lucky you the contractor 'cared' enough to respond. That is not the norm. Hope all goes well today.
Have a lovely weekend. TTFN ~ Marydon
Now that is a good construction firm.....I hope it keeps holding up for you and you get no further damage.
What a great contractor. Just think. One more week, Hopefully, and life can return to normal. My hopes for you.
Now THAT's good service! Good thing you're working with a reputable firm that cares about their customers!
p.s. did you know you have exactly 100 blog followers?
Hope things improve from here on out!
Great company you are dealing with sounds like! We did not get as much rain today as they called for. Did yesterday and over night but not too much.
Hope it will all be finished on time!
You can get back to 'normal' again!
No pic is needed..;-)
I'm showing you my bruises and DH working, the least you could have done was take pictures of the leaks. LOL I remember having our roof fixed after Hurricane Erin, I watched the skies for days until we could get someone over there to fix it. Hang in there, it will be over soon.
