Amy's Quilt Festival....

Once again, we have a chance to enter a quilt in a show....a fun, online show with no judging and no "quilt police"...just a chance to have fun by showing a favorite of our own and seeing the favorites of other bloggers. Click HERE to find out how to enter and maybe win some great prizes for participating! Thanks, Amy, for doing this for us again!

Here is my entry. This quilt was a "mystery quilt" done with a small group of neighborhood gals. The surprising twist to this one was....after a few months of us preparing all the various parts of the quilt (9 patches, HST's, etc.), we were then told there was NO set patttern for our quilt layout for us to follow! We had to take what we had sewn together over the months and turn it into whatever pattern we wanted! We were all fairly new quilters and that was a daunting task for us!!! This was what I came up with and I do like it a lot. It was then long-armed by a gal in our quilt guild, Sharon, and she did a very good job with it. (This was the first quilt I sent out to be long-armed.)

Great quilt Pat. I love that you all had to come up with your own layouts, it ended up making them all unique.

Wow, that would have been an interesting assignment for new quilters but your design is great. It reminds me of designs in Turkish Kilim rugs. Google it and you will see the similarities. I'm so preoccupied by this itchy rash that I forgot to post my quilt for Amy's festival. I'll do that in a bit and get on track with that.

We had a challenge like that in our quilt guild in TN - and they all came out looking very different!

Like your quilt...

mystery quilts intrigue me. I haven't done one yet. For me it would be difficult to choose colors and fabrics based on a design I've never seen...

You must have a knack, because yours is wonderful!

What a challenge that must have been. You did a wonderful job on it.

Great layout, Pat! I love doing mystery quilts because I love being surprised, so I think I might have been disappointed if I did your quilt and was told to choose the finished layout for myself. Now that I think about it, that would have been the ultimate surprise!

Good job on the mystery.

Hi Pat:
That's a beautiful quilt. Is it okay to say that to me it has the look of native American blankets?
I've been catching up on reading posts, and I do hope you get a fabric cutter. I find the cutting boring as well, except when I do it I find I get to "know" my fabric, if you get what I mean. Also, love your new fabric, especially the Christmas ones.

I think you came up with a great layout for it.

It's lovely. You did a great job. But I think I would have been a bit scared by the challenge, too. I need instructions!

What a fun idea! Now me, I'm thinking I would take all these blocks and redraw them in EQ and see what other layouts I could come up with. This is a fantastic one. How long did it take you to decide on it. Did you use up all your blocks?
