BUSY days......
First of all, thanks to those of you who voted for one of my two quilt blocks in the AccuQuilt Barn Quilt contest. I realized after a few days that the contest seemed to turn into a popularity contest, so I laid back on it after that. I like my blocks and might use them myself in something eventually and it was nice to be selected to be in the 100 finalists.
This is a crazy busy time of year for me. If any of you are involved in church music, you know what I mean. Holy Week and Easter are very hectic. I'll be very tired come Sunday afternoon. In the meantime, I won't have much chance to read blogs or to post on mine.
Here are two gifts I got recently. One is a box with lots of fun goodies in it from Jean (aka Lois). I had responded to her plea for solid scraps and she offered to trade something for them. I told her no......I'd just be happy to see the scraps go to a good home. She sent me this nice box of goodies anyway......it was a fun surprise. I am especially excited about the spool of Invisifil thread as I've heard great things about that. Sorry the photo is turned sideways...guess you'll get some neck exercise when you look at it!
Then....a fairly new neighbor gave me 4 really nice-smelling (and gentle) organic, homemade soaps shaped like Easter eggs that she made. She said it was a thank-you for making her feel welcome as the "new kid on the block". I love the soaps and think I'll be buying soaps from her now.
After Easter, I'll be sandwiching and quilting the quilt for the guest bedroom. I showed it in progress a few posts back. Here is is finished and below that is the crazy-pieced backing for it. I'm happy with it and hope I can do some simple quilting on it that will look nice.

THANKS....and I need votes now!
THANKS to all of you who posted such kind comments earlier on my blog. I have given it some thought and will keep the blog online. I just might not post more than a couple of times a month (at least for awhile), so that will be a lot less stressful for me. I'd miss all of you, too!
Now...today there was some exciting news. I have two blocks among the 100 finalists in the AccuQuilt Barn Contest. There are many wonderful blocks among those 100 (although, I have to admit that I feel some are a bit too "busy" to be looking good on the side of a building!) I'll put the link below and if you could go look at my two (Pat C is the name under them) and vote for one of them, I'd be very happy. One of them seems to have a good number of votes so far and that is my favorite of the two. I'm actually surprised they chose those two as they are the same block with just a color variation and I had submitted about 8 different blocks besides those 2. Anyway....if you'd be so inclined, I'd love to have your vote (and maybe you could get your friends to vote, too?) The voting closes on April 19 and the winner will be announced at the Paducah quilt show. I'm sure it's a long shot that I could win, because many of the blocks have lots of votes already, but......who knows what could happen in a week!

A giveaway soon and then maybe no more blog.....
You might have noticed a very colorful, floral collage at the top of my blog now. Thanks to Gene Black who put the collage together for me using some of my floral photos. I am very happy with the way it looks!
I've not had a giveaway in awhile. I'm thinking I am going to sort through my patterns in the next few weeks and maybe some books, too, and get REAL about what I will use and what I won't use. Then I think I'll put the unwanted ones (all very nice ones) on here as a giveaway. The giveaway will only be open to those who make regular comments, though. As most of you know, I'm not one to ask others to post about my giveaways and then draw folks who never paid attention to the blog until they wanted to win something in a giveaway!!! So if you are a regular reader, I hope you'll find a chance to comment at some point over the next few weeks. I'm not sure exactly when this giveaway will take place, but I'm sure it will be sometime in May and I'll look back a bit to see who has made comments recently.
Somewhat akin to this is the fact that I'm considering taking my blog offline. Initiallly, I thought I'd use the blog as a journal of my quilting, crafting and other travels, but since I take photos of everything I make and everyplace I go, I have that kind of record on my computer already. It seems that life is busy for everyone and I've had trouble finding time to do much sewing and blog posting lately, so I'm thinking it may be time to disappear from Blogland. Have any of you felt that way? I realize people often read and don't make comments, so I have no real way of knowing if it's worthwhile to keep my blog going or maybe if I should just cut back to posting once or twice a month. (I guess if I had a "counter" on my blog, I could see how many are coming and going and reading the blog..maybe the Blogger stats would show me? I guess I should try to investigate that feature.) Some of you have become my friends through the blog and I'd keep in touch with you outside the blog. So...we shall see what happens in the next few weeks. I just didn't want to disappear without warning, and I will be certain to announce when it's my last blog post if I do make that decision and to get email addresses for those of you with whom I'd wish to stay in touch and share projects and ideas.
Okay...enough of that for now......here is a photo of my progress so far on a throw-sized quilt I'm working on for the guest bedroom (a pale lavender color is on the walls...and I'm going with a white chenille bedspread with white chenille shams, so I can change out the accent colors easily by making various small throws like this one). I bought a pack of coordinated fabrics at a quilt show just because I liked it about two years ago and had no idea what I'd make with it, but I am liking that fabric in this quilt!

My granddaughter......
My granddaughter had the opportunity to be part of a photo shoot done recently at Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia. (Don't worry...it's not an operational facility any longer.....it's actually kind of creepy, so some of the shots were supposed to look mysterious or appear that she was frightened.) The photography company that did this photo shoot can be found on Facebook by searching for Kaytes JerzadelphiaCreations (no space between those last two words). If you live in the area of Philadelphia / south Jersey and have the need for a photographer, Kayte is very gifted and I'm sure you'd be happy with her work. Her contact information is on her Facebook page (in the information section). Here are a few of the photos she took of my granddaughter.....love her blue eyes and pretty face!
They told her if she cooperated with the various facial expressions during the photo shoot, they'd take a photo at the end of her smiling. She looks happy getting the chance to smile now, doesn't she?

Moving right along......
Moving right along from the Blogger problem I mentioned in my previous post........We discovered by researching online that we had to set Firefox to Windows 2000 and NOT to Windows XP (which is what I have on here). After we did that, Blogger's new editor seemed to work fine with Firefox. We did also install Chrome and it works with that, too, so...the problem seems to be solved. Of course, there are still some things I need to learn about the new editor, but.....eventually, I'll learn them.
See this pretty pincushion? It was made for me by my friend, Michelle (click HERE for her blog). This pincushion is so darned pretty that it's almost a shame to use it and stick holes in it, but...I'm going to do that anyway. THANKS, Michelle...I love it!

Here is a table topper I started at our Lancaster retreat in the fall...finally finished it but I'm not crazy about it. I love the floral fabric, but I'm not happy with the other two fabrics. Since it's just for me, I also experimented and did the binding all by machine and don't like that, either. (Ooops...still need to tack down those mitered corners.) Good thing I wasn't making it for a gift, huh? LOL

A prize and a Blogger problem....
A few weeks back I got to spend a $50 gift certificate at Village Mercantile. I had won this prize on Judy Laquidara's blog (THANKS, JUDY!!!) I chose Omnigrid's Quilter's Travel Case and it was backordered but has finally arrived. I really like it and am sure I'll find it very useful. Here are a couple of photos of it. It comes with a shoulder strap or you can use the regular carry handles.
This next photo shows the case opened. It can hold blocks up to 12.5" (unsewn size) and there is a nice strap to hold them in place. The upper part of the case has various pockets and slots for quilting tools, needles (even a pincushion that is velcro'd in place). I think I'll put my "Grow as you GO" blocks in there for now. Now for the Blogger problem....I've been one who has kept using the old editor on Blogger. I finally got the courage (thanks to my blogging friend, Karen) to switch to the new editor. Then I went to do this post and when I tried to add the photos, Firefox closed down on me (new version of Firefox). I tried 4 more times and the same thing happened at the same time...when I went to add the photos. So...I concluded it was Firefox. I then brought up Internet Explorer (not sure which version of that I had on here) AND the same thing happened. SO....I now have gone back to the old editor. My blogging buddy, Gene, who is very wise with these things said he uses Chrome, so I guess I have to see if hubby can get that on here for me. I'd like to use the new editor for Blogger, but I must also be able to add photos and I can't do that with either Firefox or IE. Anyone else have such problems?
