Here is that good old shopping bag and in front of it are two things....a 2 1/2 inch ruler (a size I didn't have yet) and a cute-as-button wool felt snowman mini quilt kit (with everything I need right inside that kit.......LOVE it!)
Now look at this......a Jim Shore QUILTING angel....and she even has a needle in her hand. You know I couldn't pass up the opportunity to buy her and she was being sold at a special price at the show.........she makes a really nice addition to my Jim Shore collection. I think I will name her Eleanor ....since I saw Eleanor Burns at this show and loved her lecture.
And then we have some fat quarters (got these at one of the Amish shops and not on the show floor). They were just 98 cents each and are just right for a few projects I have in mind. The two charm packs will be made into a Disappearing 9-Patch quilt for my living room. (Aren't you loving it so far? I tell you....this Amish shopping bag knows how to SHOP!)
This panel of adorable "chicks" is going to find a new home with a special blogger friend as a thank-you gift.....who may see this, but will still be surprised when it arrives, I hope.
I know this isn't exciting to look at, but I also know you like to see everything that comes home in that Amish shopping bag, so I can't leave out these sample pieces (50 cents each for an 18 inch square) of various types of Hobbs' batting....including fusible. For that price, I had to try some I've not used before....cheap way to find out if I like them or not.
Assorted little "doo-dads".....magnets.....needles.....mini-quilt hangers.....a pad and a little baggie of Snickers candy that says on the top: "Don't snicker...at least you got something". Might give it to my daughter who is always asking me to bring stuff back to her when I go away!!! LOL
More fat quarters.....the one on the left has tiny irons on it and the one on the right has clothespins. Also, you can see two cell phone or scissor fobs....one says I love to quilt and the other has a sewing machine charm on it. Both are already earmarked as gifts for two different gals.
Multi-yardage pieces of two fabrics I loved that will be used for valances in my house...one in the kitchen and one in the bedroom...and not sure yet which will go in which room. They were from one of the Amish fabric shops. The yellow one was just $4 a yard and the ivy print was $6 a yard and both are high-quality fabrics, so I was happy to get them for such good prices.
As you can see from the title, this is Penny Haren's "Pieced Applique" book. She was there demonstrating her technique and I'd like to give it a try, so I bought the book. She suggested this was a good one when starting to learn her method of applique. Of course, like most of you, I really didn't NEED another book, but.........you know.........it just jumped into that Amish shopping bag before I could do anything to stop it!
And the last item I purchased is this t-shirt that says "I Quilt". Please excuse its sad condition. After being stuffed into that Amish shopping bag with all the other items, it is a bit wrinkled. Maybe I'll win that iron on Kelly's 30-day giveaway.....(see my post from yesterday morning) and then I can have this shirt looking wonderful in no time at all. I hope you enjoyed seeing what I brought home from the trip to Lancaster. There was plenty more I could have bought, but I figured I'd leave some of it until next time. :-)

you did well!!! I like the kind of bag which 'shops' for itself!!!
Gotta love that Amish bag! I think I'll have to get myself one of those!
I need a bag like that for shopping. Actually, I need to go to the show you attended!
What a nice bag of goodies! You did really well.
Did the bag bring it's own money? and if so, can I borrow it for Paducah...
Quilters are fun people. I was thinking something like what Nancy said. Does that bag have a credit card that doesn't send you a bill? hehehee
Just so you know, If I don't win that iron on IHAN, I hope you do.
HA...don't I WISH this bag had its own source of funds. BUT...it doesn't...it just delights in spending MY money!!! Since I am always very happy in what it buys for me, I tolerate its free-spending policy at shows and Amish quilt shops! LOL
Great job, love the shirt. We should do a project on a shirt, it would be fun
Oooo lots of wonderful loot!! That Amish bag always amazes me...it must be bottomless LOL
Crispy

Wow oh wow! What great treasures! I love the mini hangers and the tee shirt is SO great! Love your goodies.
I need to borrow that bag for the International Quilt Fest. In Long Beach this July. It sure knows how to get great stuff!
Great shopping!! I love the doodads, the fobs and the chicks fabric!!!!
I would love to go shopping with that bag, it sure does know how to shop! I bet it had a blast picking out all of that fun stuff!
How fun!!! I love the Jim Shore quilting angel.
I love to go shopping virtually with you! Love all your goodies...but that angel is my favorite!
Ooooo liking the loot!
The quilting angel is unique, had to get that, for sure. It looks like you had a great time -- wonderful goodies!
That shopping bag is quite magical. Wish I had one. Of course, I'm sure a few pennies had to be spent to fill it. Darn. Love that chicky fabric.
Blogger is acting funny and only showing certain pictures on blogs right now. Only half your pics are showing up so I will come back later to check all your loot. :-) It's not just your blog but several I have been to that are missing pictures. Back later.....
How fun was that???? Great finds Pat!! I love little treasures...
Seeing all your goodies was almost as good as shopping. LOL. Great finds. I like the idea of a bag that shops for you. (Not that I need any help buying things).
Can' wait til that bag fills up again.
Your bag must have been pretty full. Great bargains you found.
I think that Amish bag must have expandable sides to it in order to fit all that stuff in the bag!! You got an amazing array of fun stuff!!
Great bag...and it sure knows how to shop!
Love the Angel..My dream is to vist the Amish country one day..
Julia ♥
It was fun shopping with Pat and her bag!!
wow, gotta love that amish shopping bag, i need to find me one of those in time for my trip next week to pigeon forge. i'm looking forward to hitting that shop i hit last year while tj and E play on go carts. yippie
You didn't buy much? Ha! You did great. I would have loved to go on that shopping spree with you!
Fun, fun purchases Pat and great to see you are going to try applique!
LOL That Amish bag must sure be bigger than it actually look on here to hold all of that. What good finds. I think you had a fun trip, Pat. Happy Quilting!
FUN pics Pat!
I love your angel, Elenore!
I have a few Jim Shore pieces- Santas, most of them have been gifts from friends.
Pat, I was at the show last week too and was looking at the Jim Shore pieces. How did you like the show compared to past years? I thought AQS did a pretty good job considering this was their first year at a new location.
You wouldn't want to come home from a trip empty handed. You can think of the show whenever you use your new ruler or work with the fabric. They're practical souvenirs.
Super shopping. I love the Amish bag.
I come via Freda's Hive and want to invite you over to my giveaway. It's my 200th post celebration. Hope I see you there!
Oh my gosh, such fun stuff. I love when that happens. Fun things.
Lots of wonderful goodies, Pat. It sounds like you had a very successful and happy retreat. Love and bright wishes to you as we dance into spring. xx
Wow...you bag was stuffed with some great things. I loved seeing everything.
Take care.
Congrats to the bag! Great job Amish Bag! Luv that Jim Shore. I have quite a few.
Looks like you had fun! Thanks for showing the contents of the Amish Bag.
I want a bag like yours. Whenever I go to shows, I see things I want and then get a case of the "cheaps" and don't get much. I don't seem to have that same problem when visiting quilt shops. ;-)
That Amish shopping bag always has such wonderful goodies hiding inside! Wonderful retail therapy you've done there Pat! 8-)
Pat I love all your goodies.
Especially the quilting angel.
Must see if I can buy one up here in Canada.
I love your shopping bags!
What great finds. I am jealous I didn't go. Sounds like you had a great time. Steph
that shopping bag really does know how to shop....I am envious!
So many goodies! Love the yellow valance fabric and the quilting angel and the t-shirt.
